Weddings are definitely a special event to take photos at for every professional photographer. For them it is a sort of self-fulfillment to make beautiful pictures of the wedding that the couples will really love after the wedding. However, for many wedding photography is nothing special any more and they rather think of it as being boring to make the usual cheesy wedding shots.

A really good wedding photography tip I want to give you in case you have to do wedding shoot after wedding shoot is this one: don’t be a snob! Weddings are very profitable and a good source of income while still giving you some flexibility to done more artistically satisfying shoots. This of course always depends on the couple. Just try to make the best of it and try to be positive about it.
You are a professional so take the advantage to impress your clients with beautiful wedding pictures. You shouldn’t forget that many people see wedding photos, so if you make a good job the couple will probably refer you to other people leading to more clients, jobs and money for you. Those clients will only refer you if you really portray the best digital wedding photography skills possible.
Another really good wedding photography tip is to see the wedding as an artistic challenge. Bend the rules a bit. Not too much, so that the client still has the feeling he is getting exactly the wedding photographs he wants to. You may be able to surprise and satisfy them with some really artistic wedding shots. Every wedding is different so there will be different opportunities to apply artistic skills to wedding photography.
Protect yourself with a contract
No matter if you are a professional photographer who was booked for a wedding or a friend with a digital camera who was asked to make the pictures, you should always protect yourself. Always find out what kind of pictures the couple wants. What makes you happy doesn’t necessarily have to make them happy too! They might not agree to your view of what constitutes the best digital wedding photography. Agree on which shots should be taken if possible in writing.
Draw up a contract and a list of what the couple wants. You can then check the list during the wedding to ensure that you can get everything they want. If you have enough battery power and memory you can still do some more artistic shops. Take as many pictures as possible in order to have a huge variety of photos to choose from. You should then only present the best ones to the groom and bride to ensure that they are really amazed with your work.
