Often couples have a clear image in mind of what their perfect custom made wedding ring should look like. Then the important thing is to communicate this idea clearly to the jeweler so that both, the couple and the professional, are on the same page.

If the jeweler you selected holds the title of “Jewelers of America Masters program” you can be sure that this jeweler has had the best training in the area of crafting custom design rings.
Next they should set a meeting with the professional who will create the custom wedding ring for them during which all of the details should be elaborated on. The people involved should hold a joint discussion and finally end up with a design that everyone is happy with. The jeweler will then create a concept of the wedding ring and when this concept meets approval he will give the counter model or sketch to the model maker and the ring will finally be created.
Turning the design into reality
What the model maker will do is that he will create a way prototype of the custom made wedding ring based on the sketches. If you want to fit the engagement ring to the wedding ring the model makers also has to take that into account so that the two rings compliment each other. Any changes at this stage can still be made easily as wax is a material easy to change. The final prototype of the custom made wedding ring also has to be approved by the couple and then the jeweler will finally make the ring. Therefore the way prototype is placed in a flask which is filled with plaster.
When the plaster hardens the flask is placed in the oven where the wax melts away leaving a cavity of the impression of the design. During the complex process the flask is then injected with molten metal. After the metal has cooled down the plaster is broken away under which one will find the casting of the jewelry design. This casting is then filed and polished and will be worked on further. Soon the custom made wedding ring will be finished looking even better than on the sketches.
